Full Event Details

Join us for an inspired evening of improvised  theatre, creativity and dialogue. Enjoy a live, improvised public performance orchestrated by Frédérique Lecomte with participants from the ‘Theatre for a Shared Humanity’ workshop, exploring European values of human dignity, gender equality, human rights, diversity, democracy and peace.

The live improvised performance is followed by a panel discussion and Q and A with internationally acclaimed award-winning artist Frédérique Lecomte, Artistic Director, Théâtre & Réconciliation, Belgium in conversation with Mary Moynihan, writer, director, creator of art and photography, and Artistic Director of Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality, Ireland.

Both artists share their highly successful award-winning creative practices and methodologies and discuss the We Are Europe project and the role of the arts in fostering inclusion, reconciliation, and social change. The artists explore shared European values of equality and human rights and the power of the arts for working with diverse communities in conflict zones and in times of peace.

Presented by Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality, Dublin, Ireland and Théâtre & Réconciliation, Brussels, Belgium,  as part of the 2026 Irish Arts and Human Rights Festival, this unique event offers audiences the opportunity to experience the work of  two of  Europe’s leading socially engaged theatre and arts practitioners.

Frédérique Lecomte is a founder and Artistic Director of Théâtre & Réconciliation,  an award-winning Belgian theatre company dedicated to social engagement, artistic innovation, and community empowerment. Through original theatrical creation, the company works with diverse communities in both conflict zones and peaceful settings, using theatre as a powerful tool for dialogue, transformation, and inclusion. The company are a true hub for original theatrical creation, promoting social change and a shared humanity.

This event is presented as part of WE ARE Europe, a collaborative European initiative between Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality, Ireland, and Théâtre & Réconciliation, Belgium, supported by Erasmus+.
