DESCRIPTION:Online\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\nBuy Your Copy\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEdition VII of Tintreach: The Smashing Times Arts and Literary Journal\n\n\n\nEdition VII of Tintreach: The Smashing Times Arts and Literary Journal was published on Saturday\, 18 July 2026\, in The Barracks Heritage Centre\, Cahersiveen\, as part of Smashing Times’ inaugural Kerry Arts and Human Rights Festival. This is a special bilingual edition themed ‘Muintearas: Macallaí Uíbh Ráthaigh/Belonging: Echoes of Iveragh’\, incorporating both Irish and English\, and publishing six artists with a connection to Uíbh Ráthach/Iveragh in County Kerry. This is a digital edition. \n\n\n\nThe contributing artists are Paddy Bushe (poetry) and Dominika Piekarska (visual art) – who make up this edition’s Featured Artists – as well as June O’Sullivan (short fiction)\, John Goode (poetry)\, Marie O’Shea (non-fiction)\, and Ita Ryan (short fiction). The edition’s themes include belonging\, identity\, history\, place\, community\, art\, the Irish language\, nature\, and more. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe have also included some work by Bonus Artists\, which includes an excerpt from one of the region’s – and indeed Ireland’s – most famous poems: ‘Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire’ by Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill. This section also contains two poems by Mary Moynihan\, a writer\, poet\, and creator of art and photography\, and Artistic Director of Smashing Times\, who has been visiting Valentia Island for nearly two decades. Published quarterly in digital format\, it features works from across the artistic spectrum and combines up-and-coming voices with those of more established artists. Each edition of Tintreach includes three or four artworks by a Featured Artist\, a Featured Artist Interview\, work by three other artists (usually with multiple artworks by each)\, and occasionally an article contribution by Mary Moynihan\, Smashing Times Artistic Director and a writer and creator of art and photography. The journal appears in January\, April\, July\, and October. Tintreach is edited by writer Féilim James. \n\n\n\nTintreach was established as a continuation and major expansion of the Tintreach section of the monthly Smashing Times Newsletter. Previous contributors to Tintreach: The Smashing Times Arts and Literary Journal and the Tintreach section of our newsletter include poets Jessica Traynor\, Mary O’Malley\, and Annemarie Ní Churreáin; Senator Lynn Ruane; 2023 Nobel Peace Prize-winner Narges Mohammadi; director and playwright Dijana Milošević; rapper-singer Saint Levant; and many more. \n\n\n\n‘Tintreach’ is the Irish word for lightning\, which for us symbolises the spark that animates art\, making it striking and engaging. What sets Tintreach apart as a publication? Firstly\, we are open to all artforms that can be read or viewed in page format. Secondly\, each artist selected for publication will have multiple pieces included\, unless their contribution is a short story\, non-fiction essay\, or novel extract.
