Description

For artist Mary Moynihan ‘my influences have been the people I love, nature or the way of being and a sense of mystery. I am drawn in by historical memory, alternative narratives and what is hidden or unseen especially stories that live in liminal spaces and on the edge’.

Woman is a vision of the dark night and a woman fleeing the persecution of centuries of oppression.  A world where power and intolerance is used to imprison others is a world of blackness where the state unleash their hounds to hunt people down, like the Cerberus who attacks all those attempting to flee the depths of the underworld. The child or woman will yearn and fight to be free and the power of the human spirit that acknowledges and accepts all people will prevail, even if it takes centuries!
