During the month of January, The First Fortnight Festival hosts a range of events celebrating the arts as a powerful catalyst for stimulating conversation on themes of mental health, promoting positive mental health through the arts and cultural action.  Firstfortnight.ie

We want to give a special mention to The Tightrope Walker, written and performed by Jenny Macdonald, which is part of this year’s First Fortnight Festival at Smock Alley Theatre’s Boys’ School.  Performances on 9, 10 January at 7.15pm with post-show discussions, and on 11 January with a relaxed performance at 2.15 and an evening show at 7.15. Tickets 15 euro, 13 euro concession. This acclaimed solo performance explores the delicate balance of strength and despair, grief and hope, as one navigates the terrain of illness from diagnosis to recovery. Following powerful presentations at Tallaght University Hospital and Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, The Tightrope Walker returns to a theatre setting, offering audiences a transformative experience of storytelling, community and care.
