Interview with artist Stephen Doody and a special ‘What’s On’ with a range of exciting events for 2026. Broadcast on 7 and 14 January 2026

The Smashing Times Arts and Human Rights Radio Show broadcast on Wednesday 7 January 2026, and repeated on Wednesday 14 January 2026 features an in-depth interview with Stephen Doody, a Dublin based visual artist whose current artistic practice is based primarily on sculpture. Stephen enjoys collaborative creativity and has a strong community engagement approach to his work involving diverse groups in workshops, education and discussion. His artistic practice is informed through activism, with a particular focus on the environment.

The show features a special ‘What’s-On’ highlighting opportunities coming up with recommendations for inspiring and exciting events happening over the coming months.

These include the First Fortnight annual mental health, arts and culture festival that takes place across Ireland every January and TradFest,  a joyful celebration of Irish music and culture that takes place each January in Dublin city and county, and this year it runs from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 January 2026. Mary Moynihan, MA, she/her, is an author of novels, poetry, films and plays, from Dublin, Ireland. Mary embarked upon her award-winning career as a writer in theatre and film and has garnered much acclaim for her plays, poetry and short film scripts, and for creating interdisciplinary artworks combining writing, poetry and photography presented in galleries and online. She established and became Artistic Director of Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality and is Artistic Curator for the annual international Arts and Human Rights festival.

Freda Manweiler has worked with Smashing Times since 1999. She is highly skilled in project management, coordination and implementation. She has extensive experience working at a European level developing and delivering a range of European Initiatives, collaborating with over 50 cultural, educational and civil society organisations from over 22 European Countries. Promoting European Values through working on activities and projects that promote human rights, gender equality, positive mental health, remembrance and civic engagement.
