Full Event Details

What is the role of education in work of human rights? Are they out of date and out of touch?

Drawing from a range of contributors involved in the new forthcoming edition of 80-20 Development in an Unequal World, this event will invite responses to how education is central in building human rights and challenging the state of the world today. From the myth of Pocahontas to King Leopold II in the Congo and recent conflicts, the speakers will explore a number of perspectives and formats as part of reflecting on opportunities and tactics to create meaningful impact in public education work. As part of the panel discussion this event will invite responses from participants in a lively broader discussion that will emerge.

This session will be of interest to educators and teachers and anyone interested in the role of education, learning and public engagement. Resources will also be shared on the evening. The event encourages and explores themes related to human rights directly; exploring agendas for human rights are at the heart of what this event is all about.

The book that this event is being developed on is a human rights reader that aims to broaden communities of practice and anyone interested in understanding and exploring what human rights are all about and how they can take action.

This event is presented by 80:20 Educating and Acting for a Better World
