Artistic Director Mary Moynihan, and John Morgan, lawyer and Secretary of the Basque Pyrenees Freedom Trails Association, spoke to Bernice Harrison, about the upcoming Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival.

The festival, hosted by Smashing Times and Front Line Defenders, showcases and highlights the extraordinary work of human rights defenders, past and present, in Ireland and around the world, and the role of the arts and artists in promoting human rights today. The festival consists of performances, film screenings, music, dance and arts-based workshops, combined with guest speakers and panel discussions celebrating human rights through the arts, linking the arts to civil society, active citizenship and politics.
The festival runs for eleven days from the 19 to 29 September at a range of venues including the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Science Gallery Dublin and dlr Mill Theatre Dundrum. Further information on each event and booking will be posted on our website very soon.
Additionally, Smashing Times were recently on Dublin City FM talking about The Woman is Present: Women’s Stories of WWII, a creative reimagining of the lives of women from WWII, recalling stories of bravery, sacrifice, and love amidst the horror of war, as women stood up against fascism and totalitarianism and refused to accept oppression.
