Open Call for Artists for the Smashing Times Winter Exhibition. Solstice Light: Art in Winter

🗓️ Exhibition Dates and Times: Wednesday 3 December 2025 – Sunday 26 January 2026, Wednesday to Friday 1-6pm, Saturday + Sunday, 10am–6pm daily. Admission Free.

Smashing Times Visual Art Gallery invites submissions for our upcoming Winter Exhibition, Solstice Light: Art in Winter. The exhibition runs from Thursday 4 December 2025 to Sunday 26 January 2026, and is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday. We welcome proposals from visual artists, makers, and craft practitioners working in all mediums—painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, textiles, photography, installation, and fine craft. The theme, Solstice Light, invites artists to explore ideas of light, renewal, reflection, and the seasonal rhythms of winter and spring, the beauty of darkness, rest and hibernation and the sense of hope and new beginnings that emerge as the year turns. Smashing Times Visual Art Gallery applies a 30% commission on sales.

The launch of the exhibition takes place on Wednesday 10 December 2025 at 7pm as part of our celebration of Human Rights Day. The 10 December each year is Human Rights day, celebrating the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948.  They day serves as an annual opportunity to reaffirm the importance of human rights and to reflect on the challenges and progress made in achieving human dignity and equality. 

Submission Guidelines

Open to emerging and established artists.

All forms of visual art and craft considered.

Please submit:

  • Up to 5 images of recent work (JPEG or PNG, max 2MB each).
  • Biography  (max 500 words).
  • For exhibition: Image, title, medium, dimensions, and year of each work. Artists can submit up to 4 artworks.
  • An artist statement (max 250 words).
